My name is Esther Ramirez-Pevney, I am the humbled and honored re-elected president of the Puerto Rican Cultural Society. I want to personally thank all of the members who participated in our elections, which were held this past Friday January 20th. I was very encouraged by the large turnout for this election. I also want thank all those who ran for a position on the Board. In particular, Mr. Wilfred Martinez and Carlos Pagan, both respected business men in our community and who ran a very close race for President and Vice President chairs on the board. As those who follow us closely know, we are always begging for your continued membership, your volunteer time and your participation on our board. I congratulate our re-elected and newly elected board members.

2017 will be a special year for me, not only because of some of the events that we have planned for our members and the community but also because it will be my last year with The Puerto Rican Cultural Society. I encourage those who ran this year to please maintain a close relationship with this organization and to consider running again in January 2018. I also ask all active members to take a more active role in this growing association, whether as a board member, committee participant, or an active volunteer of the Society.

This organization with its mission… “to preserve, promote and build culture awareness about the strength and vibrancy of the Puerto Rican people through education, community outreach and empowerment” is an important one. From the visions of its founder, to present day we take our commitment to heart. Our undying love for our culture and community keeps us wanting to move forward and strive for better things.

Once again, thank you all for your continued support!
