Gracias.

Hi, this is Esther, president of the Puerto Rican Cultural Society.
Some of you may not know that both Alba Colon-Nieves and I try to both read and respond to all posts left on this Facebook page. Today I personally wanted to respond to several comments we've had regarding our decision to charge $5.00 for our upcoming festival, scheduled for August 27th. While it is true that we have had all of our prior festivals free of charge, this year we were forced to ask for a little something, due to crowd size and the need for a private and costly venue. Symphony park has a much greater expense associated with it. Additionally, in order to continue to grow and celebrate our Puerto Rican culture and community, we have gambled in bringing a bigger show. We are so proud to bring acts like El Gran Combo and Trio Los Condes, which is by far our most costly stage show! We were sure that our community would not only celebrate with us but support us in this huge effort. Yes, we understand that $5.00 may seem alarming to some, but consider that most of the Symphony park events start at $10.00. Also consider that the last time that el Gran Combo came to Charlotte, the cost to see them was $50.00. Finally, if you are a member of our organization (The Puerto Rican Cultural Society or PRCSC), you entrance is free of charge. Yes, the $5.00 is more visible on our new official flyer, but I disagree that we have waited until know to mention it. We've had people ask us where to buy tickets for months now. The Puerto Rican Cultural Society remains a non-profit organization. It has taken us many years to get to this point. Many people have worked really hard to make these events happen and have done so free of charge. Please continue to support us in celebrating our culture and our community. We do all of this with respect, love, and pride. Thank you.
